| Shirahama Shirahama is the southermost tip of the Chiba Peninsula. Chiba is a large peninsula east of Tokyo surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. This day was very windy and the waves were crashing against the rocks with a fury. We could see the shipping lane and we watched the huge fishing ships diving and crashing into the waves then shoot up out of it. 20 leeward ships passed in the time it took one windward ship to pass.
