New! Total Tradegy
This is me playing along to the song Fatal Tragedy by Dream Theater, from the Scenes From a Memory CD
Also New! Communion and the Oracle
This is a "tribute" recording of this song by Symphony X.
I contributed the bass track. The keys, guitars, drums were performed by Stuart Pendergast.
Also check out one of my favorites

Sunday Afternoon - Masaya Maruyama - Rhythm Guitar
Oishi Yaki Imo - Melody by the little-ol' grizzled guy in Kokubunji, Tokyo who pushes around his cart selling yaki imo
Backing Up - rhythm tracks written and performed by Michael Wittmer
Hey Tee Bone - written by Tony Fisher and T. David
Written by me - featuring Rob Ebersole on keyboard solos.
Michael Wittmer prepared these rhythm tracks and posted them to his web site, I downloaded the mp3 and dubbed some guitar solos over the top.
Backing track only |
Drums and rhythm guitar tracks for a classic. This version is modeled after the version on MVP's Centrifugal Funk CD (a must have CD for guitar lovers). |
with solos |
A classic tune that's perfect for shredding. I recorded the backing tracks early in 1999, but added solos recently. |
Written and recorded in about two hours one afternoon in Summer 1993. One of my favorites because it was so spontaneous.
Recorded in 1997. Very painstakingly prepared over about a month.
Recorded in 1994 and has another variation on the dual guitar solo
I can never seem to get this one just the way I want it. I'll just have to try again. written in 1988, this recording 1994.
A big departure from my other stuff prior. Recorded 1998.
I like the concept, but the delivery and recording need work. 1995.
For mature audiences only. If you are a prude who is easily offended, do not download this song. Written in 1988 by Claude Massari and the Grateful Dudes. Performed here by me in 1993. This predates my SY85 so the drums were from a cheap Yamaha beat machine that had actual drum pads and sticks. The fills were recorded "live."
Needs a solo section, but still one of my favorites to play. 1994.
A fun tune that marks my first (and last) attempt at realtime keyboard soloing. Yeee! I had to do some hairy volume fading on the final mix to get the guitar solo straight on this one.
Took a long time to finish this one. This has a solo section that speeds up gradually. The teacher I was studying with said "Oh no. You can't do that. That's not usual in composition." That was my last lesson with him. Tell it to someone else.
Title inspired from a G. Benford novel. Kind of pop rock-ish. There is one bend in particular that just sucks. You'll hear it. Sorry 'bout that.
This one took a long time to finish too. I wish you could more clearly hear the distorted rhythm guitar part, but I really like the citar sound.
This was my first song with the SY-85.
Raw. Inspired by Satch. I was trying to do certain recording techniques for the final solo sections. This predates my SY85 so the drums were from a cheap Yamaha beat machine that had actual drum pads and sticks. The fills were recorded "live."
Bass and a delay. Sounded great to me.
Several tracks here, but one is using the multi level pitch shift with pre-delay. Cool sound effects type "song"
I am gonna re-record this soon because this song rocks, but this recording just stinks.
Pink Floydian on purpose.
I like this one, but y'all'll probably hate it so don't waste the bandwidth unless you have a real high speed connection or you just have to hear the worst trash I've wasted tape on! I sing and the vocal recording is just attrocious.
Masaya Maruyama brought over his Ovation acoustic/elecrtic and we banged out this song in just about the same time as its running length!
In Japan they have these guys who push little smoking coal oven carts around the streets of neighborhoods selling baked sweet potatoes. They have megaphones that blurt out Oishi Yaki Imo in the melody you hear in the song. It got so annoying after the first two years that I had to record this hardcore version of the oishi yaki imo song. I love the Oi! parts.
More fun with digital delays.
I discovered this a few months ago. I had not heard it since it was recorded perhaps about 7 years ago. It's not a bad idea, but has an empty solo section.
I love this concept, but this recording is pretty bad. It's worth a listen.
My second SY-85 sequencing experiment. Called The Faker because I use the SY85 preset distorted guitar sound instead of actually learning the song and playing it on a real guitar. Real guitar only plays rhythm on this song. |
